International Public Lecture Series 2 Continues with Seminar and FGD on Bio-Based Materials and International Collaboration

Yogyakarta, December 18–19, 2025 — The International Office of the Center for Developing Cooperation and International Affairs (CDCIA), UIN Sunan Kalijaga, continued the International Public Lecture Series 2 on its second and third days by hosting a seminar and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with Prof. Khaled Chetehouna from INSA Centre Val de Loire, France. The activities were conducted in collaboration with lecturers and academic communities within the Faculty of Science and Technology.

The seminar, entitled “Development of Bio-Based Materials for Environmental Sustainability,” was held on December 18, 2025, at Room 103, Faculty of Science and Technology. The event was attended by more than 50 participants, most of whom students from the Physics Department. The high level of interest was closely related to Prof. Khaled’s academic background and his role as a supervisor of Asih Melati, M.Sc., Ph.D., a lecturer in physics at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

During the seminar, Prof. Khaled provided a comprehensive explanation of the development and formation of bio-based materials as sustainable alternatives for environmental preservation. He also introduced the academic profile of INSA Centre Val de Loire, sharing insights into its research culture, facilities, and academic atmosphere. The seminar was intentionally conducted in a classroom setting to encourage focus and engagement, which resulted in an active discussion session.

Participants showed strong enthusiasm by asking various questions, not only related to bio-based materials but also regarding academic life in France, opportunities for international study, and potential internship programs at INSA Centre Val de Loire.

On December 19, 2025, the agenda continued with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) under the theme “Initial Collaboration between the Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, and INSA Centre Val de Loire.” The discussion explored potential academic and research collaborations, including joint research, student mobility, and laboratory-based cooperation.

During the FGD, Prof. Khaled presented the PRISME Laboratory, a prominent research facility located in the Centre-Val de Loire region, highlighting its research focus and collaboration opportunities. The session concluded with a tour of UIN Sunan Kalijaga’s Integrated Laboratory, during which Prof. Khaled visited the Physics, Biology, and Chemistry laboratories, gaining firsthand insight into the university’s research infrastructure.

Through these activities, CDCIA UIN Sunan Kalijaga reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international academic collaboration, promoting sustainable scientific research, and expanding global opportunities for students and faculty members.
