The Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought (FUPI) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held a Pre-Departure Student Exchange activity on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the STIPRAM Hotel Kaliurang. The event, which took place from 08:00 AM to 01:00 PM WIB, was an important moment for the five student delegates from FUPI before their departure to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The atmosphere was full of enthusiasm, marking the event designed to provide academic, mental, and cultural preparation for the participants.
The Dean of FUPI, Prof. Dr. H. Robby Habiba Abror, M. Hum., expressed his appreciation for the initiative in his opening remarks. "I am pleased that the Vice Dean III has taken the initiative for this student exchange activity, the pilot project for FUPI. I hope this activity proceeds smoothly and is blessed," he stated. According to him, this student exchange program is a significant initial step in the faculty's effort towards internationalization and expanding its academic network on the global stage.
Meanwhile, the Vice Dean III for Student Affairs and Cooperation also offered words of motivation to the participating students. "You are the delegates of FUPI; I hope these five individuals can bring honor to the name of FUPI," he remarked. This hope was met with enthusiasm by the students, who are ready to represent the faculty internationally. The activity itself was led by Dr. Phil. Muammar Zayn Qadafy and featured Naufal Aulia Hanif, S.Ag., an awardee of the 2023 MOSMA program to Malaysia, who shared valuable experiences about studying and adapting in the neighboring country.
To conclude the series of events, the student exchange participants were invited to join a Merapi lava tour as a team-building activity to strengthen solidarity and togetherness. This communal atmosphere in the outdoors is expected to build a collective spirit before they undergo their academic experience in Malaysia. With the full support of the faculty leadership, this activity is hoped to be a good start for the development of international cooperation and open up more opportunities for FUPI students in the future.
