Interview stage for SGS Scholarship candidate

UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held the Sunan Kalijaga Global Scholarship (SGS) interview session on 4 August 2025 as the final stage of the selection process for international students. Out of 64 applicants who underwent administrative screening and desk evaluation (23 July–1 August), 50 candidates were selected for online interviews conducted by the International Office team and faculty representatives. The interviews assess the candidates' mental readiness, financial support, Indonesian language proficiency, academic motivation, and future vision. The SGS programme is a strategic initiative by UIN Sunan Kalijaga to strengthen its position as a globally-oriented Islamic university while expanding access to quality.Additionally, participants were asked to present their academic motivations, future visions, and reasons for choosing Indonesia specifically UIN Sunan Kalijaga as their study destination.

The Head of the International Office at UIN Sunan Kalijaga stated that the interviews aim to identify candidates who are mentally, spiritually, and financially resilient, capable of becoming “Kalijaga Muda” who excel and contribute positively to the campus environment.

“The enthusiasm and passion of the participants are truly remarkable. We hope they can bring new perspectives and a collaborative spirit, making our campus more inclusive and dynamic,” she said.

The Sunan Kalijaga Global Scholarship Programme is a strategic initiative by UIN Sunan Kalijaga to strengthen its position as an Islamic university open to the world. Through this scholarship, UIN Sunan Kalijaga aims to expand access to quality education for international students while enriching cross-cultural interactions within the academic environment.

The final selection results will be announced shortly, and scholarship recipients are expected to begin their studies this academic year.
